Spring Break Trip

This year for our spring break we all headed to Branson, Missouri. Brad's parents have a time share and they love to vacation there, so we were really excited when they invited us along to stay at their resort. The girls had so much fun. Brad and Grandpa were only able to stay for two days because they had to get back to work, but that didn't stop us girls from staying longer and in Kayla's words "shopping till we drop!" That is exactly what I did by the last day of shopping ;) But Kayla and Grandma kept going even after they dropped me and Callie off for a nap. I tried to take a lot of pictures, but for the sake of time, I'm just posting some of my favorites.

This pic is of the girls just lounging on the balcony outside of our room. Callie loved it because there was a little waterfall right at the bottom of our balcolny.

One of Kayla's requests was to go to Build a Bear Workshop. I was going to get both the girls a stuffed animal, but after we got there Callie didn't even have any interest in the animals, she just wanted to play the computer. So we decided to skip the cost of getting her one and just spent more on Kayla's. As you can see, Callie didn't mind a bit ;)

One of Callie's favorite things was swimming in the tub in Grandma's room. Kayla got to swim in the big pool at the resort, but since Callie hadn't had any regular bowel movements in a couple days (must have been all the fast food), we decided to be better safe than sorry.

Our "swimming pool".

So this probably isn't best picture of me, but it was so cute of Callie I just had to post it.

Another of the girls favorites is the night that we went to Bass Pro shop. Only my girls could have as much fun at Bass Pro shop as a theme park. This first one is of Kayla in a glass elevator that overlooks the pond.

Daddy and Callie in front of the big waterfall.

Kayla just kept insisting that I get a good picture with her and the giant fish.

Grandma and the girls looking at the turtles.

The next group of pictures are from a little kids amusement park that we went to for Callie. Kayla was a good sport and went on the rides with her sister so she wasn't scared. Callie had a blast.

Kayla's birthday

We had Kayla's birthday party last week and we all had a lot of fun. We decided to just have a small party at home since it was a school night. I think that worked out the best for us. We set up a big mattress in the living room for the girls to all lay out on while they watched the movie "Another Cinderella Story". Which they loved, because it was a dancing movie and all the girls are dancers. Here are some pics from the party:

Kayla was very specific in how she wanted everything decorated. She told me what balloons to put where, and even made me put one by the mailbox! Silly girl.

This is Kayla with her best friend. She's just as cute as can be and it's even cuter seeing the two of them together because Kayla is about 1/2 a foot taller (or more)!

Here are all the partners in crime watching their moving together. These little girls all think just a like (that's all I'm going to say on that subject) ;)

Serving up some treats. They had popcorn, root beer, m&m's and licorice. Followed by pizza and cake later. You don't think I spoiled there dinner, do you?

This picture is hilarious. I caught it of two of the girls fighting. A full out fight broke out when one of the girls said that the other thought Kayla's dad was hot. We were laughing so hard. The poor girl was so embarrassed.

Kayla really wanted pin the tail on the donkey. I though that once she saw the poster that she would change her mind and think that it looked like it was for a little kid. But she just started giggling and said "Oh, good! Just what I wanted."

And last but not least, the big birthday cake!

To my mom:

This is to a mom who will never know how truly beautiful she really is,
how much she is really missed,
how much impact she has had on her children's lives,
how much appreciation we have for her,
and how she is the most beautiful woman I have ever known.
I love you mom. Thanks for all you do.

Camping Trip

Well we actually went camping last week, but I am just now getting around to posting about it. We went camping to celebrate Brad's birthday. When I asked what he wanted to do for his birthday he said that all he wanted to do was go camping. So off we went! We really had a lot of fun. We had an incredibly warm weekend last week and it was perfect weather the whole time. I'm glad we went while we did, because it has gotten a lot colder since then.
This was Callie's first time camping and she loved it. Kayla always loves being outdoors but she didn't like having to share an air mattress with me and Callie. Brad was a sweetheart and slept in a sleeping bag on the side so the girls had more room on the air mattress. It didn't keep Callie from hogging the whole bed though!

Baby gender

Well I know that everyone has been anxiously waiting to find out what we are having and to all those who guessed what it would be, you all guessed wrong! We are having a...

GIRL!

Isn't she so sweet? This side profile looks almost identical to Callie's ultrasound when you compare them. Although I must say we got a great shot of those legs and they are definately Kayla legs! We are so excited to be having another girl.

Life at the Shelton house...

Not a whole lot has been going on around our house this past week. We've all just been busy with work and school.

Brad is loving his new job. He is in more of an office environment now, everyone wears business/casual type clothing and he is around guys that are really laid back and professional. I am very excited that he likes his new position. I can tell that he likes going to work everyday. He liked going before, but this position is definitely a better fit for him.

Kayla has been doing good in school. She is growing taller and smarter everyday. She loves to read and has been reading some junior novels. The one she just finished that she loves is called: "The Tale of Despereux" (not sure if I spelled that right?). Kayla is also about to turn 9 years old! I can't believe it. Her birthday is next Tuesday. We are going to be letting her have a small party at the house. Nothing to adventurous this year, since it will be on a school night. But I think they will have a lot of fun.

Callie is still just being her cute little self. She makes us laugh everyday with the things that she says. She is turning into a crazy little talker. She is using big sentences, but she is also making up some words and sentences in between as "filler words". It's as if she knows there are more words that make up a conversation. So she'll say a little bit that makes sense, then a little jibberish and then end with another sentence that makes sense. It's almost like she's just so overwhelmed with all the vocabulary she knows in her head that she gets overexcited when trying to put it all together. The other day she said the biggest sentence I have heard yet: "I'm running round the room, and I need a drink of water." 12 words all together! (She was running laps around the house and in between each lap she would come to me for a drink out of her water bottle.) She is also doing this new thing where everyday she will wake up and say "What we gonna do today mom?" And then I'll tell her whatever we are doing. And just as soon as we are finished with the activity she will ask the same question again (even if it's 3 hours later). It is like she just doesn't want to sit still for a minute, but hey I'm used to it with Kayla, she is the same way.

The baby has been growing bigger and stronger everyday. I have still been feeling great, which has been a very welcome change compared to my last pregnancies. At my last doctors appointment he said that the baby is really low. I said: "Oh great! That's all I need, is for it to start out low." I have trouble keeping them in long enough as it is. Oh well, I'm sure it will be fine. They made an appointment for the ultrasound finally, and we should be finding out what it is on the 12th. I can't wait.
