Happy Halloween!

We had a great Halloween day.  We started out by meeting Papa and Brad in Hazen to have lunch together.  They had been out hunting that morning and Brad got another deer with his bow, right before we got there.  He has gotten two in two weeks, he is doing so good.  They were also having a rice festival across the street with train rides, rock climbing, bounce pits, and lot's of good food and music (I'll post pictures of that tommorow).  So we got to spend a little time there with Brad and had a lot of fun.  Later that night we got the girls ready for trick or treating because our town celebrated Halloween on Saturday night instead of Sunday.  Uncle Cory and Grandma Shelton also came over to see the girls in their witch costumes. 

Kayla just loves to wear makeup any chance she gets!  We decided she looked to pretty so we added some black lips to make her more scary.

Riding back home, we had so much fun. And just think... next year we will have a new eight month little girl trick or treating with us! What a crazy thought.

Red Ribbon Week at Kayla's school

This week we have been kinda lonely girls because Brad has been out of town on a business trip.  He got to go to Atlantic City, New Jersey and had a great time. Before he left we were able to spend a little time together for Family Home Evening (in our church we set aside Monday nights to spend home with our family either doing something fun, teaching our kids, or doing some kind of service.) We usually always have a treat on Monday nights after we are done with our activivity.  Here is a picture I caught of the girls anxiously awaiting their homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. And yes, they did stay like that the entire time they baked.

Kayla had a very fun week because it was Red Ribbon week at her school and she got to dress up everyday.  Monday she was supposed to wear red, Tuesday was wear your favorite jersey day (she wore Uncle Ross's jersey because it looked nicer than Brad's), Wednesday was Camoflauge day, and Thursday was 60's day.  She sure looked cute everyday! 

Fun at the pumpkin patch

Tonight we got to go to the pumpkin patch with Grandpa and Grandma and Uncle Cory.  We had a great time.  There was a HUGE selection of pumpkins to choose from.  And each of the girls got to pick out their own.  I can't wait till we get to carve them.

Oh, and I also wanted to add that Brad shot his first deer of the season! He shot it off the ground with his bow, way to go honey! We already smoked some of it and made barbecue sandwiches and it was so yummy.

Yummy recipe and randomness

Well nothing to exciting has been going on around here. We have just been up to the regular old stuff.  I have been busy taking care of the kids and doing church stuff, and Brad has just started into hunting season.  So that means many nights alone for me :) But that's okay, I don't mind relaxing in the evenings with the girls, I have always been kind of a homebody.  
Kayla has been having fun at school.  She is taking a tumbling class right now on Wednesdays and is learning how to do a back handspring.  She also got to spend the night at her friends house last night and go to the homecoming parade and football game. I think she had a really good time.
Callie and Hailey have been playing so good together.  I just love seeing how much fun they have.  They will dissapear into the back for a while and usually when I go to check on them, Callie will be either trying to dress Hailey up or put some crazy idea into her head.  The other day, she put Hailey on her tent and was dragging her around the house.  And Hailey was just laying back smiling, like it was the best ride ever.  This morning they came out looking like this: 

Yes, that is part of their Halloween costumes and no, that is not entirely how they are supposed to look.  Callie had put a pair of her pajamas on Hailey so they would match and put the rest of the costume on her as well.  Ha ha.. it just makes me laugh that Hailey just sits there and goes along with whatever Callie wants to do.

On a side note, I have just been taking it easy today and so I did a little baking.  I made the yummiest pumpkin cupcakes and so I wanted to share with all of you.  I made mine as Halloween treats to take around to the neighbhors, because we all know if I kept them home I would ended up eating them all!

Pumpkin Cupcakes

2 cups sugar
1 1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups canned pumpkin
4 eggs
2 cups flour
3 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp cloves (I didn't have this, so I left it out and I just added a little pumpkin pie spice)
1 cup walnuts (optional, but I put them in and it made them sooo good)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cupcake tins with liners.  Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves together.  Set aside. In large bowl combine sugar and oil. Blend in vanilla and pumpkin, then beat eggs in one at a time.  Gradually beat in flour mixture.  Stir in nuts. Pour batter in cupcake cups about 3/4 full.  Bake for 19-21 minutes.  Frost with cream cheese frosting.  Enjoy!

Busy Day

Today was a very busy day for our family, but for some reason I just decided to add one more thing to it by blogging tonight ;)  This morning Brad went hunting with his dad, while me and the girls headed up to Little Rock to look for new coats (not that we are even close to needing them, but we might need them next month when we go to Wyoming). 
After that we met Brad in Jacksonville and headed over to the Air Force base to watch the Thunderbirds.  It was a huge show and thousands were there. It was hot, but we had a lot of fun.  Here are some pics of the event.  I won't even try to explain which planes are which.

And my favorite part of the show was when they dropped over 400 men out of 9 planes, it was so cool to see them all coming down at once.  There were so many in the air my camera could only catch a small group of them.

We ended up having to head back a little early because our branch was having a carnival/ dinner at 4:00.
We ate some yummy chili and played some fun games. We set up a fishing booth in the young womens room and also did a face painting booth.  I think the kids loved it.  Callie is modeling one of her prizes:

Our fish pond kept falling down when we hung it across the room, so we finally just draped it over some chairs!  You don't think they could see me behind the curtain do you? Ha ha...

And last but not least here is my 19 week baby bump pic.  I'm about at the 5 month mark.  I can't believe we will have a new little baby so soon!

(And in case your wondering why my baby bump picture is always in the kitchen, it's because I spend my days with a baby and a toddler, and seeing how neither of them can take a picture, I just always set it on the counter ;)

Another girl!

We are so excited to have another pretty little girl joining our family.  I just know they are all going to have so much fun growing up together and will hopefully be the best of friends.

Hailey's more productive day has somehow resulted in me having a less productive one. This is what she has been up to all day. Over, and over, and over....

She figured out how to climb up the oven.

She figured out how to climb on the chair and play with the computer.

And last but not least she figured out how to get up to the dining room table.  And pushing the chairs all the way in doesn't stop her either, trust me I tried.
