Thanksgiving trip to Wyoming

We just returned home from our trip to Wyoming.  We had such a great time.  I was so homesick, so it was good that we were able to go.  We ended up driving instead of flying (our family is getting so big flying is expensive!).  We were blessed because the roads were great, you never know how it could be going across the country this time of year.  We didn't even see any snow on the road until Greybull, WY.
Callie loved seeing the mountains and the snow.  As soon as she saw the snow, she said "It's Christmas!"
We got there Saturday night and were able to sleep in the next morning because my parents church didn't start until 3:00. I was able to snap a few pictures before church.

Sunday was too cold to let the girls explore the snow outside, so the next day we went outside when it was a little bit warmer. (Hailey ended up getting an earache later in the week and now that I look at this picture, I think "stupid me" where is her hat? No wonder she got an earache!) The girls were actually looking at Nanna's ducks swimming in the pond.  I couldn't believe they were swimming in that cold water.  We only stayed out about 5 minutes.  But the girls loved doing it anyway.

Kayla kept hopping up on this horse when no one was watching.  I finally had to get after her and explain why she couldn't ride the horse when no one was with her.  She loved that horse though.

Callie loved spending time with her cousins.  This is her with her cousin Declan (Deloy and Shannon's little boy).
We spent a lot of time visitng and lounging around.  The girls loved running around Nanna and Papa's big house and going up and down the stairs. And they loved seeing all the animals. There was a dog, cat, bird, lizard, ducks, chickens, and a horse (I'm sure I'm leaving out something.)  Ha ha...

We couldn't help but take pictures of some of the beautiful scenery.  It wasn't until I moved away that I really appreciated how beautiful the mountains are.

Tuesday all the girls went shopping (Me, my Mom, Karren, Kayla, and Hailey)  We didn't bring Callie because my sweet sister in law Shayla offered to watch her. Thank you Shayla, we had so much fun.  And I got spoiled with a new pair of  boots, new camera for Christmas, and a new church coat for my birthday. The roads were pretty bad, but thank goodness we made it back safe. Later that night Hailey started acting sick.

On Wednesday, Hailey fussed all day long and started pulling at her ears and by the end of the day I took her into the doctor.  He confirmed that she had an ear infection so we started some antibiotics.  Later that night my parents, 3 of my brothers and our family went to the new "Tangled" disney movie.  It was the most expensive movie I've ever been too, (I think $95 for everyone) but it sure was fun.  And Callie was in heaven, because she has been waiting so long to see it.

On Thursday everyone woke up early to go up on the mountains to get the Christmas tree.  I stayed home with Hailey, Callie, and my nephew Sam since Callie and I were starting to get colds as well.  The kids were great for me and I was able to prepare some of the food and set the table while they were gone.  My mom got some great pictures of the fun that they had on the mountain.

During a couple of days during our stay Brad and 3 of my brothers were able to go hunting.  They stayed the night and ended up killing an elk .  Funny thing is they only had cow liscences, but they came across this big monster who had a broken leg.  So after calling the game warden, they got permission to shoot it, but since they didn't have liscences for it, the warden took the antlers and let them keep the meat.  Too bad!  I know Brad wanted that rack so bad. But at least we have a picture anyway.

One of the nights on our vacation we went over to my brother Marks house and played games and had pie.  Uncle Mark even taught Kayla how to play a few cords on the guitar.

This is kind of out of order, but on Monday Brad and I took Kayla up to see her Biological great grandparents who are in the nursing home.  They could hardly recognize her since they hadn't seen her in years.  It was so nice being able to spend a little time with the Dillons.

After the crew brought the Christmas tree home from the mountain we all decorated it.

These are just some family pictures from earlier in the week.

Hailey loved my parents dog "Buddy".  She hadn't been around many dogs before that, and by the end of the week all she could talk about was "puppy".

I had to get a picture of our Sequoia covered in snow.  I can't believe it started.  One of the mornings it was -17 degrees!

And last but not least, here are some pictures from our Thanksgiving.

Thanks for having us Dad and Mom and for spoiling us all.  The girls cried for a while after we left, and I know they won't forget how much fun they had..  We love you and miss everyone already!

Lake House

Last Saturday we went up to Heber Springs to see Brad's uncle Robert and Aunt Faiths new lake house.  Almost the whole Ray family was able to be there.  It was a nice relaxing afternoon and the weather was a lot warmer than we thought it was going to be.  The girls had a great time walking all over.  Callie had an especially good time posing for her Grandma Shelton (these pictures were all taken by her.)

This is all of the Ray family that was there (Debbie's side of the family).

Callie loved spending a little time with her cousin Ethan.  They climbed all over the place.

Uncle Cory and cousin Justin with Hailey

And Kayla had the big catch of the day!  We all had a good laugh when we saw how big her fish was.

Thanks Robert and Faith for inviting us, we had a great time!

Good job Kayla!

Today Kayla went on her first youth hunting trip with her dad and grandpa and she shot her first deer!  I am so proud of her.  I knew that she was going to have fun going, but I really thought that if she ever saw a deer that she would get scared and not shoot.  Not only did she not get scared, but she made a perfect shot!  She shot the deer with the same 308 that was Brad's grandpa's gun, which is the same gun that Kayla's grandpa shot his first deer with, and the same gun that I shot my first deer with.  So that was pretty special.  I asked Brad how old he was when he shot his first deer and he said he was 10.  The same age as Kayla, so that must be a pretty good age to start.  Way to go Kayla.
